The limited number of tankers exiting the strait are mostly navigating near Iran's coast after paying fees as high as $2 million per ship. A few began using routes closer to Oman's shoreline on April 2, possibly allowing a slight uptick in traffic. However, nearly 400 large oil and gas carriers remain stuck in the Gulf, not including smaller boats and container vessels, according to Rohit Rathod, a senior analyst at the cargo monitoring company Vortexa.
